Super producer Snowboy helps Baiana find Paradise

The brilliant Baiana are back with a new single produced by Afro-Cuban jazz star Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgrove.

Paradise is released on July 23rd and will be launched with a live show at London’s famous venue The Pheasantry.

The track is one of three Snowboy produced with the band, which is fronted by glamorous singer Laura Doyle.

Paradise is a Latin-infused love-letter to the joy of being with friends, inspired by the fun things that unite us all and how music makes the good times roll. The band, which was “born in Liverpool but blessed in Rio” takes Brazil’s music scene for its pop inspiration.

This is their second single after last year’s crowd-pleasing Miso Loco (It’s a fine time in the sunshine).

Snowboy is a producer, DJ and percussionist of international renown, who has worked with musicians such as Lisa Stansfield, Imelda May, Amy Winehouse, Simply Red, James Taylor, Mark Ronson and many more.

He offered to produce for Baiana after being impressed by demos the band sent him. Laura said: “To have Snowboy produce our music is a dream. His knowledge and instincts are incredible, it was amazing to work with him and bring these tracks to life. We really bonded over our shared love of Latin music and you can feel the magic of that coming out in these tracks.”

“Paradise is all about that special vibe you get when you are together with friends, dancing, having fun and losing your inhibitions. It’s about those crazy nights out that only happen with those special people and stay with you for all times.”

Paradise was co-written by Laura and the band’s bassist Jesse Eigen. The other members of the band, a truly international affair, are gypsy jazz guitarist Micky Dunne, Norwegian Vidar Norheim on vibes and German jazz drummer Tilo Pirnbaum.

The other tracks produced by Snowboy will be released later in the year, ahead of the recording of an album set for release in early 2022.

The band play at The Pheasantry (Pizza Express Live) on Chelsea’s Kings Road on Friday, July 23rd (6.30pm doors for 8pm). Tickets available here – but are selling fast!
